Don’t Chase People. Build Standards.

Son,

There’s a trap a lot of people fall into without realizing it.

They spend their lives trying to be liked by everyone.

They adjust their opinions.

They soften their boundaries.

They say yes when they want to say no.

They laugh at things they don’t find funny.

All because they’re afraid of something very simple.

Not being accepted.

When you’re young, that fear can feel powerful.

You want to fit in.

You want people to like you.

You want to be part of the group.

And there’s nothing wrong with wanting connection.

But there’s a difference between connection and approval.

Connection happens when people respect who you are.

Approval happens when you shape yourself to fit what others expect.

The problem with chasing approval is that it slowly pulls you away from yourself.

You start becoming whatever version of you gets the least resistance.

And over time, you lose something important.

Your standards.

Standards are what protect your character.

They decide how you treat people.

They decide what behavior you tolerate.

They decide what kind of life you are willing to build.

The strongest people you’ll meet didn’t build their lives by chasing approval.

They built their lives by deciding what they stand for.

They chose their values.

They held their boundaries.

And the right people naturally respected them for it.

Not everyone will like you in life.

That’s simply reality.

Some people won’t understand you.

Some people won’t agree with you.

Some people won’t want to walk the same path you’re on.

And that’s okay.

You’re not here to be accepted by everyone.

You’re here to become someone you respect.

When you build strong standards for your life, something interesting happens.

The people who belong in your life stay.

The people who don’t quietly drift away.

And what remains are relationships built on something real.

Mutual respect.

Authenticity.

Trust.

So don’t spend your life chasing people.

Spend it building a life that reflects your values.

The right people will recognize it.

And they’ll walk beside you because they respect who you are.
